Cursillo
What is Cursillo?
Cursillo is defined as a "short course in Christianity". The Cursillo Movement is a
movement within the Catholic Church that shares the fundamentals of being a
Christian as an individual and in community. The Cursillo helps people discover and fulfill their personal vocations while promoting groups of Christians who leaven their environments with the Gospel.
At Holy Rosary, we encourage our parishioners to make a weekend Cursillo and become involved in post-Cursillo opportunities to continue their growth and influence around them.

Interested in Making a Cursillo?
What is Cursillo?
Getting Started
- First, you’ll need a Sponsor, someone who has attended a Cursillo.
- Then, ask your potential sponsor or someone you know who has attended a Cursillo Weekend to take you to an Ultreya before the Cursillo weekend. This will give you some of the flavors of a weekend.
- Your Sponsor can help you register for a weekend.
A Few Basics
- Cursillo weekends begin on Thursday evening at 6:30pm.
- Your Sponsor will provide your transportation to and from the Retreat Center. Be sure to have dinner before you arrive on Thursday.
- You will need to do nothing else when you arrive except relax and participate in the weekend!
- The weekend will end Sunday evening around 7:30pm.

Ultreya
What is Ultreya?
Ultreya is a Spanish word for "Keep on going!" or "Onward!" An Ultreya is a weekly or monthly gathering of all Cursillo Group Reunions in an area to share in prayer. At each gathering, one pre-determined member gives a witness talk about how our Lord is currently present in his or her life.
At Holy Rosary, we host an Ultreya on the first Tuesday of most months of the year at 6:30pm in our Parish Hall.

Palanca Chapel
What I the Meaning of Palanca?
It’s a Spanish word meaning “lever.” Just as a lever enables a person to move something that’s beyond their normal strength, Palanca as a spiritual lever can move us gently and lovingly toward God. For the Cursillo weekends, Palanca consists of one or a combination of Prayers, Sacrifices and/or Works of Mercy which are offered for the spiritual success of the Cursillo weekend or the entire movement.
We host a Palanca Chapel for the Cursillo Weekends when our Nativity Chapel is available for your prayers on the Saturdays during the weekend. We encourage you to sign up for one hour to pray for the men and women of our parish who are making and leading the weekend.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
