LITURGICAL MUSIC MINISTRY

Cantors

Adult vocalists with performing and music-reading experience are trained and mentored to lead the congregation at weekend and holy day parish liturgies. Other vocalists may choose to participate in the cantor group program, which offers less experienced singers the opportunity to use their musical gifts within an ensemble setting.

Adult Choir

The Holy Rosary Adult Choir is made up of women and men (age 18 and up) who want to sing – or “make a joyful noise” – for the glory of God. No audition or experience is required.

This group leads the music for the Sunday 9:00 a.m. Mass each week from September through May. The choirs sings for other special liturgies throughout the year, such as Midnight Mass, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 8:30. The group learns a variety of music—much of it sung in four-part harmony. Most choir members don’t have a formal music background, but they seem to find joy in learning and growing from their choir experience, and sharing their musical gifts with the parish.

Youth Bell Choir

The Bell Choir is made up of parish youth from Grades 3-5. Bell Choir members who are now in upper grades may continue with the group as Choir Assistants. Rehearsals are from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays from October until Easter.

The Bell Choir is taught to sing and ring tubular chimes for special liturgies at Christmas, Catholic Schools Week, Easter and school Masses. The Bell Choir can always be counted on to engage the congregation with its bright and lively music!
