Holy Rosary School Community Service Opportunity

Holy Rosary School Community Service Opportunity

In honor of Vocations Awareness Week and the many vocations that have been lived out at Holy Rosary since 1950, the HRS community was invited to help us gift the parish with 71 HOURS of community service during the month of November. These 71 hours of service are in recognition of the 71st anniversary of our parish and honoring all the vocations that have been a witness to the life of our parish.

Children, parents, teachers and families were encouraged to perform random acts of service around their homes, neighborhoods, classrooms and the community. Several ideas were provided below. Then, each week, families can submitted the number of minutes of service that their household participated in during the week. The intention of this opportunity was not just to do more service, but to also recognize all the ways they already reach out in love and care for each other, thus living their vocation as a family.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
1 person X 20 minutes = 20 minutes     |    4 people X 20 minutes = 80 minutes

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED IN 2021Fr. Bernie receives presentation for community service hours

Our goal was 71 hours of service in honor of the 71 years of vocational witness in the life of our parish.  Each week, families were encouraged to submit minutes of service, which were later converted to hours. We also sent service ideas in the weekly Message that went to families.  Several families submitted minutes each week. By the end of our 2021 project, 30 families and several school homerooms had participated by serving 260 hours!

As a representation of these hours of service, a presentation was made to Fr. Bernie at the School Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. In response, he said, "God bless them all for their witness of faith and charity."
